This might give you a bluescreen and a system crash, did for me once, don´t fear, just install the drivers once again after the system reboot.
Avid media composer 8.3 driver#
So, begin with installing the correct driver once again, this time using the advanced install option and inside that advanced install option is a box to checkmark to clean everything old to install fresh, please checkmark that one. Impressive that you have solved all by yourself during all these years, this might be a smoked card but I should want you to test a couple of things in order mentioned below to find this out. I would like to install both the certified card and driver AND have full GPU functionality along with, of course, my video playing in MC. There is obviously a bug somewhere, as the Avid technician previously acknowledged. So I did further testing, and confirmed, that, at least for my system, Media Composer 8.3 will not play any video in the source and record monitors, or in Full Screen Mode as long as GPU acceleration is enbled.Īlso, it does not matter which monitor I try to place any of the windows in either, no video will play while GPU is enabled. I just don't have the optimal speed and funtionality I should have, since it only plays when GPU acceleration is disabled. Once again, however, I have Video playing in my monitors. Once again, messages inform me I am using the wrong driver and that GPU is diabled. So I closed out of MC, re-edited the EnabledGPUDrivers.txt file, removed my added lines, saved, and re-launched Composer. However, once again, the video has dissappeared! Exactly the same problem as I originally had with AVID's recommended driver 340.84. Launch MC, and the driver is now recognized by MC and the messages report that everything is initialized correctly. Per another suggestion, I 'tweaked' the EnabledGPUDrivers.txt file, adding in lines for the NVIDIA FX 3800 and the 340.52 driver. MC also reports that, since 340.52 is not approved the GPU acceleration has been disabled.Īnd that is exactly what it has done, diabled use of GPU acceleration functionality. MC launches, but during initialization MC reports this is not an approved driver, that only 330.11 or 340.84 driver should be used. This, he explained, was his workaround for the 'other' client. He uninstalled 340.84, and then clean installed 340.52.
Avid media composer 8.3 upgrade#
The tech told me he had a previous 8.3 upgrade customer with same problem. All fx dots are green.Īfter searching the knowledge base and forums and attempting several solutions, I contacted Avid Support. Everything works except there is no video playing in either source or record monitors. Nor will the media play in Full Screen Mode. Installed Avid recommended driver 340.84, per upgrade instructions. H have an FX 3800 graphics card with 1 GB. This is a new problem on a system that has been working great until I upgraded from MC7 to MC8.3.

But this one really has me stumped, and I appreciate any help and expertize anyone can offer. Over the years you guys have taught me alot. Although I've been editing with AVID Media Composer since 1994, I very rarely have issues that I'm not able to resolve by reading the forums and tech notes.
